Lake Whatcom Bloedel Donovan Park Boat Launch is minutes away from downtown Bellingham. The park itself, features grilling stations, roped off swim area, playground and open lawn areas. The boat launch has 4 nicely paved lanes and the docks are in good shape. You must purchase a permit, either in advance online or at the boat launch, prior to launching your boat or kayak. The boat inspection station located at the Lake Whatcom Bloedel Donovan Park Boat Launch, is very efficient especially when you purchase your permit in advance.

Launch Fee:

All boats are required to have a valid permit when launching and while operating on Lake Whatcom or Lake Samish. Lake Whatcom Management Program charges a fee for inspection and decontamination services which can be purchased in advance online or at the boat launch. The inspection is conducted at the boat launch.

Registered Watercraft (≥ 16 feet long and/or > 10 horsepower engine)

  • Annual Permit ($50) unlimited inspections (valid through Dec. 31) (COVID discount applied)
  • 3-Day Pass ($20)  (valid for use on Lake Whatcom or Lake Samish for 3 consecutive days only)
  • 1-Day Pass ($10)  (valid for use on Lake Whatcom or Lake Samish for 1 day only)

Parking: 

The main parking lot is small, but they offer overflow parking adjacent to the main lot in a grass field.
